We are Austin Butts and Lorne Book, Texas estate-planning attorneys and deacons at Prestonwood Baptist Church.
This program began when we set out to help the Prestonwood Foundation reduce the administrative workload required to offer estate planning as a financial stewardship benefit to church members. We built a simpler model that gives families access to attorney-designed, Texas-specific estate plans without requiring the church to administer the planning process.
After seeing the program work well at Prestonwood, we felt the Lord calling us to make it available to every church in Texas on the same terms.

Does this cost the church anything?
No. There is no program fee, contract, minimum participation requirement, or technology purchase for the church.
What do members receive for free?
Members can access a Texas will at no cost. Guardian documents for parents with minor children are included when needed.
How does Texan make money if the church pays nothing?
The will is free. Members who want additional trust-based and incapacity planning may choose a $299 upgrade and pay Texan directly. There is no obligation to upgrade.
Is this only for large churches?
No. There is no minimum church size or participation requirement. The program is specifically designed to be practical for smaller churches as well as larger congregations.
Is this Texas-specific?
Yes. The documents are designed for Texas residents under Texas law.
Are Austin and Lorne attorneys?

Is Texan Wills and Trusts a law firm?
Texan Wills and Trusts is an online estate-planning resource and platform, not a law firm. Members who want individualized legal advice can choose an optional attorney consultation.
Does church staff have to give legal advice?
No. Church staff should not give legal advice. We show churches how to help members with logistics, access, and signing support while legal questions are directed to the proper channel.
What Christian language is included?
The documents include a personal statement of Christian faith and a Gospel presentation centered on salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, His death for our sins, and His resurrection. Church leaders can review the sample language before launch.
Can members leave a gift to the church?
Yes. Members can be offered an optional planned-giving choice during the estate-planning process. A gift to the church is never required.
Are documents available in Spanish?
Yes. The program can serve English-speaking and Spanish-speaking Texas church members.
